Kimono Jacket

I'm not sure if kimono jacket is really the right term, but let's just leave it at that.
a
a
I got this piece from Chatuchak and I love how it dresses up a simple shirt and jeans ensemble.

K Goes to the (Super)Market

Top: Every Perfect
Leggings: Central Department Store
Sandals: SM
Bag: Chicify
a
a
This Market bag is one of my online purchases in Manila (I took advantage of the cheaper domestic shipping rates).  You know how I love big tote bags and this one is just perfect because it can fit loads of stuff inside.  In this photo, it's loaded with Aly's school uniforms + 2 local magazines that I picked up from 7-11.  It was really heavy but the bag is really sturdy!  I also used it as an overnight bag when we went to Laiya.
a
a
My grocery days are now more chic.  Heehee!

New Hair

I've been feeling a bit drab with my old hair.
a
a
Same old 'do over the years -- BORING!!
a
a
Needless to say, I'm dying for a makeover!  I wanted to cut my hair short, like chin-length short, but I'm not sure if it will look good on me.  Baka lalo akong magmukhang mataba so wag muna masyadong drastic.  I just really want to get rid of the ponytail because I want to be able to put my hair down.  Sayang naman ang haircolor if I always tie my hair, dba?  Soo, shoulder length na lang muna and if it works, maybe we can go shorter later on :)
a
a
Here's our new 'do!  I dragged the daughter to the salon with me as well.  She needed a haircut too!
a
a
Sabi ng mommy ko, I look younger with shorter hair and I think she's right!  Heehee!
a
a
Now the thing is, it was kinda hard to replicate the blowout that my hairdresser did at the salon.  I blow dried my hair yesterday and it was straight, all right, but it was still frizzy.  I felt like I had mushroom hair.  Haha!  So I got myself this:
a
a
My new arte tool: a straightening iron.
a
a
Let's face it: those hairstyles that we see on magazines are not really the wash and wear type in real life.  Effort talaga and hair product ang kelangan para ma-achieve ang mala-celebrity look!  And since I want to look nicer, I  need to put in more effort because we don't exactly look picture perfect when we wake up in the morning.  Aminin!
a
a
The only problem is, I need more time now more than ever to get ready.  First, the make-up (which I'm trying to use everyday para masulit especially now that I'm itching to go make-up shopping again), and now the hair.  Plus, since gumastos na din ako for this arte tool, I really need to use it to get my money's worth.  Good luck na lang.
a
a
Hay!  Ang hirap talaga magpaganda!

My Birthday Outfit

I didn't have much time to hunt for a birthday dress and shoe-shopping was unsuccessful.  Luckily, I have stuff in my closet that I can work with.
a
a
Dress: Platinum Mall
Watch: Richard's Technomarine
Shoes: Zara
a
a
I bought this dress around April, I think, and I've worn it only once.  I love the nude-ish color.  It's actually a maxi dress but I wore it shorter because I wanted the pencil skirt-ish effect.  It goes better with the shoes.  This is how the dress really looks like:
a
a
Loose and relaxed for my trip to the spa.  No more make-up too!
Flip Flops: A/X
a
a
Maxi dress + belt = this.
I used a belt to hold the dress up to my knees (it's hidden under the folds of the dress).  I think pwede rin without a belt since the material hugs the hips, but I'm not too sure if it will stay that way when you walk.  So I wore the belt to be extra sure the bottom part won't fall down.  Heehee!
a
a
One dress, two ways.  Ok, now I want this in black too!  Hope they still have it :)

Loungewear

In other words, pambahay (house clothes).  Pinaganda ko lang.  Haha!
a
a
Lazy days at home mean spending afternoons on the couch watching movies or several episodes of our favorite tv series and I love those days because they don't really require me to dress up.  Aly and I spend half of the day in our pajamas, take a shower and change into a fresh pair.  And to further prove just how lazy those days are: footwear is optional.  I like walking around the house barefoot.
a
a
Here's my take on loungewear.
a
a

Caftan: Chatuchak
a
a
I bought this as a beach cover-up but now that summer is over, I'm giving it extra mileage by wearing it at home.
a
a
Tunic: Chatuchak
I've had this for several years now and I'm still loving it!  Super comfy.  Plus the fact that it's white makes me feel and look so fresh and clean.  The hubby loves it when I wear this.  When I say love, that means he actually notices it and says something about it.  Husbands -- hay!
a
a
I will miss those lazy days.  Now that Aly's back in school, I need to dress up more or else my daughter will disown me when I pick her up in school wearing pambahay.  Heehee!

Airport

Gosh!  I haven't posted in ages!!  Sorry about that.  Anyhoo, Aly and I are on holiday so hopefully I will be able to post more often :)
a
a
Speaking of holiday, I'd like to share our airport outfit.
a
a
My first post using our full-length mirror at home but whoops!   Tabingi.  I have to practice taking these self portraits.
a
a
Ok, that's better :)
Top: Queen of Casual boyfriend collection, Platinum Mall
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Platinum Mall
Watch: Technomarine
a
a
Studded leather cuff: Siam Square
Bracelet: from Hongkong
a
a
Mother and daughter's take on cuffed jeans.
On Aly:
Shirt: Platinum Mall
Jeans: Old Navy
Sandals: Crocs
a
a
Since our family flies to Manila at least twice a year, I've learned a thing or two about what to wear and what not to wear to the airport.  Such as:
a
  • Comfort is paramount so jeans or leggings, a loose top and flats are a must.
  • It can get really cold inside airports and airplanes so make sure you pack a shawl or a jacket in your carry-on.
  • For bags, a big tote is best when you need to pull your passports in and out of your bag for immigration check, duty-free shopping, etc.
a
So there you have it: my two cents on airport style.  Heehee!  Hope this helps!

Favorites

Four of my favorite items worn together: a plain shirt, black leggings, a statement necklace and my trusty Fitflops.
a
a
Shirt: Gap
Leggings: Korean shop in BF
Necklace: KIMV
Watch: Swatch
Sandals: Fitflops
a
a
My statement necklace that really makes a big statement because of its size.  This baby can turn heads :)  I wonder if I can make a bigger one?

Aly's Fashion Wednesdays: Tiara

Here's another dose of Aly's Fashion Wednesdays!
a
a
Shirt: Gap Kids
Tutu skirt: SM
Leggings: Platinum Mall
Shoes: Gap Kids
a
a
We went crazy over these tutu skirts when they were uso!  But Aly doesn't wear them much anymore so I was happy she resurrected them from her closet.
a
a
Strike a pose, babe!
a
a
Show mommy your tiara.
a
a
Isn't she the cutest? :)  Great job there, princess!

Working Mom

Last week, Aly's homeroom teacher asked me if I can help decorate the 2nd grade classroom for the Science Fair.  I love those artsy-crafty stuff so go!
a
a
I wanted to wear something decent and comfortable.  Decent because I'll be in Aly's school so I want to wear something that says "parent", not "nanny".  Haha! And comfortable because, well, I will be working :)
a
a
Shirt: Gap
Jeans: Zara
Sneakers: Converse
a
a
I also brought along my bayong of craft supplies because I like to have everything ready and within reach.  It makes my work faster.  I hate having to pause and look for scissors, glue, etc.  Waste of time!  Karir dba?

Aly's Fashion Wednesdays: Accessories

Looks like I'm not the only one at home who's going from drab to fab!  Last week, my eight-year old started what she calls "Fashion Wednesdays", where she surprises me with her chosen outfits for the day.  This is what she wore last week:
a
a
Shades: H&M
Shirt: Gap kids
Leggings: Gap kids
Shoes: Gap kids (I know, head-to-toe Gap!  She loves that shop.)
a
a
Strike a pose!  Camera shy no more!
a
a
Nasa mood talaga for photos!  Buti na lang mabilis bumunot si mommy ng camera!  Haha!
a
a
Then she went back to her room, grabbed a jacket (a/c in the living room can be a bit cold) and posed again for mommy.
a
a
Aly's Fashion Wednesday outfit is not so much about the clothes that she wore because she always wears a shirt and leggings at home.  The special thing about it was the accessories -- the necklace and bracelet which she got as a gift (I don't remember who gave it to her.  Sorry!), which is not part of everyday wear, and the shoes because we just wear flip flops or even go barefoot at home.  She really took time to accessorize and she seemed to have fun doing it!
a
a
I love seeing her make her own fashion choices.  My Aly truly is becoming her own person.  I won't be sad anymore about my big girl baby growing up too fast (ok, maybe just a little bit sad) because I know she'll be alright -- fashionwise at least.  Haha!

The Fat Dress Part 3

I was feeling a little bloated the other day, no thanks to the cake and ice cream that I got for Mother's day.  So it was time once again to bring out the Fat Dress.
a
a
Dress: Platinum Mall
Shades: Mango
Watch: Baume & Mercier
Bangle: Platinum Mall
Shoes: Platinum Mall
Bag: Banane
a
a
Part 3's variation is I turned it into a knotted dress with a DIY knot.
a
a
I just gathered some of the fabric, twisted and held it together with a black elastic (same stuff I use for my hair).  And voila!  Instant knotted dress.
a
a
Trying to channel Kate Middleton with the blow-dried hair + loads of hair product.  Eeek! (I don't normally put stuff on my hair).  Heehee!
a
a
Elastic bangle with mother of pearl detail.
a
a
The best piece that I had on: a pair of white and yellow gold hoop earrings, which was a from Richard's tita Tess.  I love it.  It's really special to me :)
a
a
We now have three different ways to wear the fat dress:
a
a
a
a
a
a
And #3.
a
a
This dress is really sulit with the many ways you can wear it!  It's like having three different dresses for the price of one.  But I'm not done yet.  I think I have one or two more that I have yet to show you.  Thanks for stopping by!  Till the next one :)

Si Daeng

Si daeng is Thai for red.
a
a
Before my love affair with purple, there was red.  It was my first love.  I had to end it, though, when we moved to Bangkok.  With the political situation and the number of times I've been mistaken for Thai, wearing a red ensemble is not ideal.  Kaya hanggang accessories na lang ako at baka hulihin pa ako ng pulis!  Afraid!
a
a
Anyhoo, for this week's grocery day, I wore this:
a
a
White shirt: Chatuchak
Blue and orange belt: Ukay ukay in Tagaytay
Denim shorts: Old Navy
Sandals: Fitflops
a
a
Swatch Gent in si daeng (red).  A present from Richard.  Btw, use an eco bag when shopping!  Plastic bags are soo not fab!
a
a
I wore red lipstick to match my red watch -- I know, kinda cheesy!  But what the hey!
a
a
MAC Russian Red.
a
a
Russian Red on the back of my hand.
a
a
I love my MAC Russian Red for two reasons: #1 Madonna wore it on her Blond Ambition Tour and you know that anything Madonna is super cool in my book; #2 It lasts forevah!  I put on two coats yesterday -- one coat, blotted with tissue, then another coat -- and it lasted all day!  I ate merienda, drank lots a water (didn't leave any lipstick mark on my glass either), ate dinner and dessert with it and the color stayed on without retouching.  I kid you not!    I was surprised myself!  Richard came home last night at around 10pm and the first thing he noticed were my red lips.
a
a
MAC is a bit pricey but if you want to rock the red lips look without spending too much, a cheaper alternative to MAC (but not necessarily to Russian Red) would be:
a
a
Revlon Plumpsexxxy in Latino Kiss and Maybelline Color Sensational in Summer Sunset.  Unlike MAC Russian Red which is matte (hence the staying power), these two have more sheen in them that's why I rely on Revlon Colorstay Lip liner in Red to make the color last longer.
a
a
Effective sya ha.  One time, during my nephew Eli's baptism reception, my mom asked me how come I still had lipstick on after eating.  Richard's tita Tess noticed it too.
a
a
Swatches: Latino Kiss on the left, which is a warmer red; Summer Sunset in the middle, a cooler red; lipliner on the right.
a
a
Red lipstick truly is a classic.  It never goes out of style.  Some women are shy and afraid to wear red but I think it suits anyone -- you just need to find the right shade.
a
a
I personally like to wear red lipstick when I'm too lazy to put on make up but I still want to look "made up" because with red lipstick, you have to tone everything else down.  So what I'd do is, I'd line my eyebrows (probably the first and only thing I will put on if I'm too lazy for make up but I still want to look human), put on lipstick and I'm out the door.  Easy peasy.
a
a
Dare to wear red!  It's not as scary as you think :)

Sunny Yellow

I don't have a lot of color in my wardrobe and that's probably why the hubby loves it when I wear something bright and white.  Much so that he encouraged me to buy more colorful shirts but I'm not biting the offer right away.  Baka nasabi lang nya yun out of shock because I rarely wear something colorful.  Haha!  So, to refresh his memory, I wore this the other day:
a
a
Yellow shirt: Platinum Mall
White pants: F&F from Tesco Lotus
Shoes: Sanuk
Tote bag: Gap
a
a
I'm loving this bag, by the way.  I can pack loads in it so I'm making it my official summer tote.  Perfect bag for schlepping.  Kainis nga lang that the care label says it can't be washed (not even handwash!) so I still have to be careful not to get it dirty.
a
a
When Richard got home that day, he paid me a compliment but he never mentioned the shopping for more shirts part again.  Ha!  I knew it!  Nabigla lang talaga sya.

Mother's Day

Purple dress: Platinum Mall
Shades: Mango
Kitten-heel sandals: Charles & Keith
Bag: Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy 30
